After Big Victory, Dundalk Tyke Blue Wows at the Attack Game
Submitted By mbroderick on Sunday, January 13, 2013
January 12, 2013 was a sensational day for the Dundalk Tyke Blue.  With a big home game against Flesherton 2 followed by being the centre of attention at the Owen Sound Attack Game, in the Timbits Mini Game.

In the first game, Dundalk Tyke Blue hosted a formidable Flesherton team who has beaten Georgian Shores and Osprey this season.  The momentum was on the side of Dundalk as they won the first meeting 6-4 in a very close contest.  This meeting was different as Dundalk came out flying and dominating at both ends of the ice.  Once again, the defense core showed its strength as Aidan Broderick, Amber Rice, Wyatt Goheen and Brody Verbeek, started the offense on its way while shutting down the Flesherton attack.  Brody powered the offense with three goals, giving him his first career hatrick.  Up front, Chase Tester had his best game of the year as he is settling into his left wing role very nicely.  Also scoring goals were Dante Hannivan, Aiden McKibbon with two and Jimmy Stevens with his first of the season.  The balanced scoring is something that Dundalk Tyke Blue has been looking for all season and should be huge in moving toward the second half of the season.  Joshua Broderick had another strong game with two assists, Wylie Ferris skated well and Quentin Welsh shoed his two way play on forward.  Keegan MacPherson had another strong game in goal, stopping all but one shot, including four off the mask, showing his resolve to stop everything that comes his way.  All players were exceptional in this game, but special mention has to go to Amber Rice.  The second player, continues to work as hard as anyone, improve her skating far beyond expectations.  Her eagerness to play anywhere is noted as she played a strong game on defense and had shifts at centre and wing, earning her player of the game for the team.  Great job Amber and the Dundalk Tyke Blue.

In the evening, more than 100 Dundalk Minor Hockey players and famillies showed up to the Owen Sound Attack Game for Dundalk Night with Attack.  Many thanks to Brenda Acheson for organizing and working on this game for us to enjoy.....and the fundraising dollars will be put to good use.  The feature of the night was the Dundalk Tyke Blue playing in front of 5000 fans between the 2nd and 3rd periods.  The teams were split into two with team red comprising of Aidan B, Dante H, Nevin B, Josh B, Quentin W and Keegan M in net while team white had Aiden M, Wyatt G, Wylie F, Amber R, Jimmy S and Brody V in the net.  The game was exciting with two evenly matched teams, both goalies made good stops and great defense by all.  Aiden M opened the scoring for team white with a great shot in the corner of the net.  After a good rush by Aidan B in which he hit the post, Dante H grabbed the puck came out in front and stuffed it home for team red to tie the game.  After a flurry of action in the last minute, the score ended 1-1.  After cheers, pictures and happy parents, the players enjoyed all they could eat timbits and the rest of the Attack game.  Fun was had by all.
